When 50 Fits!

One of the parties shown on my site was for a client I know very, very well – me! So, when I became my own client and started planning my own milestone birthday, I was inspired by “a seed of an idea”, which is how I like to work with my clients.  I found the inspiration in a photograph that spoke to me, then a quote that made me smile, and combined them for the front of an invitation. The result?

An Invitation That Sets The Tone!

From that point on I wanted to celebrate the sophisticated side of the 1960s (sort of the end of the supper club era), as well as the bright neon colors and shapes that often come to mind for that period.  Setting the décor for this was really the most fun. The outdoor roof garden was the perfect spot to drop a black and white dance floor accented with pink, white and silver statement pieces.

Greeting guests upon arrival at my downtown location were bellman, and assisting during cocktails, cigarette girls.  Later in the evening the talent changed to suits and go-go boots and lit up the dance floor to really get the party started.

The dinner buffets and hors d’oeuvres were all in keeping in the spirit including passing trays using magazine covers from 1964 that I purchased on eBay, a “bubble bowl” presentation of salads, and rolling food carts both of dumplings during cocktails and a chocolate fondue during dessert.  The Catered Affair provided the food and the signature drinks poured thru the “50 Fits” stiletto luge.

In addition to sweet treats, what’s the takeaway? Run with your theme and incorporate it from beginning to end! Now I can’t wait for my next birthday – or yours!
